Lyrics

We paint it in black and white
Divide into blue and pink
Side to the left or right
Nothing in between
We cling to our binaries with no precedent
Ones and zeros lack the intricacy to all make sense

Heuristic armed ballistics
Blindly fired by mortars over imagined borders
Make mark, and shatter glass houses built
By people trying to shelter from the shower of guilt
Driven deep inside their brains
An amoebic cyst that we create
Can we decolonize our minds?

Brick by brick builds something new
Replacing worn, archaic views
Small acts grow from wind to hail
Building up to tip the scales

Hoping that one day they’ll all come ‘round
We’ll pound upon the walls till they come down
Sound your words and ease the load
WHOA!

Once they see it
Faults perceived
Structure weakens
Minds upheave it

Dethrone!

The ways of old
A stranglehold
To break the grip
We must be bold

No more words that denigrate
The marginalized
We must cease this onslaught
This slow tearing down

Know we are not entitled
To bodies that aren’t our own
Patriarchal, colonial establishment
Come crashing down

Brick by brick builds something new
Replacing worn, archaic views
Small acts grow from wind to hail
Building up to tip the scales
